    Two Types of First Aid

The term "first aid" may refer to two different types of medical needs. Non-emergency first aid is the treatment for minor medical needs. For any of these ailments further and professional medical care is most likely not needed. Non-emergency needs include: cleaning and bandaging cuts and minor bleeding, caring for bruises, mild stings and bites. Emergency first aid is the trained reaction to life threatening illnesses or injuries. Advanced medical attention will be needed soon after. Emergency first aid includes responding to: seizures, stroke, broken bones, severe bleeding, and performing CPR.

    CPR First Aid Differences

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency procedure used mostly after cardiac arrest. CPR uses physical manipulations, such as cardiac massage and artificial respiration, to manually keep the blood flowing from and to the heart. CPR also involves the exhalation of breath into the victim's mouth down into the lungs which helps move oxygen into the body.  The difference between CPR and first aid is that first aid includes, but is not limited to using CPR and CPR is used to treat the sudden stopped breathing of a victim, but not all first aid ailments.
